Project Nursery: Maya's room

The Dolldine Designs family has welcomed our newest addition!  We are so in love with our new bundle of joy and it has been the greatest blessing!  After a cesarian delivery, I'm happy to announce that our family is adjusting and doing well.  After posting our nursery inspiration, we got several requests on Maya's nursery and I'm doing the big reveal today.  We settled on pink and gray because pink is my favorite color and gray is lovely's.  It was a true labor of love and we put in lots of DIY work for our little love bug.  The crib and changing table were gently used and purchased from a close friend (thanks, Renato) and we painted the changing table with Martha Stewart's metallic paint and added hardware.  I made the butterfly mobile with white cardstock since I was inspired by the Pottery Barn mobile which was no longer available.
I sewed the bedskirt, curtains and made some pillows to match as well.  I also wrapped the lamps with fabric and trimmed it with pink grosgrain ribbon.  The crib bumper was purchased at Babies'R us from the collection Lambs and Ivy.  The glider is one of my favorites in the room.  Maya and I spend countless hours cuddling and nursing here.  It's very special for me!
We wrapped canvas boards with the same fabric as the lamps and I hand cut the pink flowers.  It reminds me of one of my favorite flowers, a plumeria. And because I wanted to get everything done, I painted her growth chart on a plank of wood and tied the same pink ribbon at the top.

I really liked this print from Pizzazzerie.com.  It was a Valentine printable and had the same colors we had in mind for her room so we framed it.  Behind the door is where her diaper bag is hanging.
I love Maya's closet.  Lovely made the configuration and we bought storage bins to put extra blankets, towels and other things for her.  Her clothes are all so adorable.  Thanks to our sweet family and friends for her wonderful wardrobe!  I saw many ideas online for closet dividers and thought about purchasing some, but for $10 a 3-pack, I figured I make my own that matched.
Here's a closeup of some of the details...

Thanks for stopping by and checking out Maya's new haven and a place she calls home.  We will definitely be spending lots of time here with our little love bug!  Another big thank you to Fuerte Photography for capturing our maternity session, which we have framed throughout Maya's room and her newborn session which you can see both on our Facebook page.

Celebrating Valentine's Day

I can't believe January is done and Valentine's Day is just around the corner!  Wow... time flies fast  when you're having fun! In honor of the traditional hallmark holiday, my lovely and I celebrate very low key.  This is because although the pink stuff tickles my fancy, it's overrated! The expensive dinner, the crazy gifts and of course, the hectic and busy restaurants! Don't get me wrong... we did it our first couple years together, but after that we changed things up to something more simple. For the past several years we celebrate each other and our relationship.
A great way to get into the spirit of this is to exchange mini cards of love. We did 14 reasons why I'm in love with you, exchanged them and read them to one another.  We have our version of a fancy dinner in our backyard complete with candles, our fireplace, wine (beer for lovely) and a 3 course menu we've never made before.

For our place setting, I used a favorite dress of mine which had ripped and was put in the salvation pile, cut it up and used as our napkins.
There are many other ways to celebrate which I discovered online and found as inspiration. Maybe we'll incorporate some or all of these one year.  I really loved this bingo set.  Although it would be fun to play bingo, we would need more than just the 2 of us!

The idea of writing "52 things I love about you" would be very similar to the "14 reasons why I love you" we have already done, but how cute is this deck of cards? A very simple, but expressive way to show your love how much they mean to you.

Breakfast in bed? SURE! How cute is this how to! A very simple, but festive way to say I love you and appreciate everything you do for me!

Whatever you plan on doing, make it special and about who you are as a couple. Want to make some Valentine's Day sweet love cards too?  Feel free to download them here.  Have a Happy Valentine's day!

Nursery Inspiration: Pink and Gray

We've been hard at work preparing our baby girl's nursery. We decided with the colors of pink and gray because pink is my favorite color and gray is lovely's. I made an inspiration board so I can get him on the same page and it worked! ;) Can't wait to show you when it's all done... it's so exciting!

Hanging mobile and chandelier ideas

I've been wanting to create a hanging mobile/chandelier for quite some time now, but I'm having the hardest time deciding on a style I like. I would love for it to go in the studio, but I'm also thinking I can make one for an upcoming party. Here are some of my inspirations....

Candle light wine glass

These make a great decoration for both indoors or out. It's a fun and easy way to complete any tablescape! I think I'll make some and put them at our entry way. Here is the template and the complete directions if you want to try and make some on your own.

Jewelry Organization

I love making something from nothing. Even if it's the smallest thing! I upgraded the bulletin board in our studio and decided I could use it for another purpose.... a jewelry organizer.

Everything is hanged by clear push pins I bought here and have the board hanging in the closet for easy access, but also hidden behind a door. I even pinned my flower hair clip I made as a cute accent!
